«Literary Bridge» Solemn Awards Ceremony Held in Tehran

On June 16th, 2019 the 5-star «Espinas Palace» hotel in Tehran hosted the solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the 1st Belarusian-Iranian contest of literary translation «Literary bridge» conducted under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The contest was aimed at enticing students and alumni of leading Iranian universities into the translation of the masterpieces written by classical Belarusian poets to Persian.
The contest gathered 30 Iranians from Tehran University, Shahid Beheshti University, Azad Islamic University, Tarbiat Modarres University, Gilan University, Esfahan University, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Bu Ali Sina University of Hamadan who study Russian language and showed interest in Belarusian culture.
During the ceremony with the sponsor support of «Diba Travel Agency» and «Turkish Airlines» company in the presence of H.E. Mr. Yury Lazarchik, Belarusian Ambassador to Iran, Ambassadors and employees of CIS diplomatic missions, the representatives of the Iranian Ministry of foreign affairs, the management of Organization for culture and Islamic guidance of Iran as well as modern Iranian cultural notables, the winners in nomination «Choice of the Embassy» were awarded with commemorative gifts while main prizetakers (1st, 2nd and 3rd places) were given the certificates allowing to make a touristic trip to Belarus.
The contest is expected to be held annually and on a reciprocal basis by mutual efforts of Belarusian and Iranian diplomatic missions and have a positive impact on further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of culture.
