Scientific cooperation
Belarus and Iran cooperate in the scientific and technical sphere on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran on scientific and technical cooperation.
The following areas of scientific and technical cooperation are of mutual interest for Belarus and Iran:
— medicine and medical equipment;
— energy, new sources of energy;
— microbiology and nanotechnology;
— new materials;
— agriculture and nature management (landscaping of desert territories);
— postgraduate education in Belarus, postgraduate education.
Within the framework of scientific and technical cooperation Belarus and Iran operate throug the Joint Commission for Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education, Science and Technology and executive committee on joint financial structure. The 6th meeting of the commission and the 3rd meeting of the committee were held in 2017 in Minsk. Next meetings of the commission and committee are scheduled to be held in 2020 in Tehran.
Direct cooperation between universities, research institutes, high-tech parks and other organizations of both countries is promoted.
As of the beginning of 2020, about 1000 Iranian students and post-graduate students have been studied in higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
